The short version

  • This site has no tracking cookies, ad pixels, or analytics.
  • We only collect what you type into a form. We use it to answer you, and to send occasional Vine Kids notes to people who sign up for them.
  • We never sell or rent your information.
  • Email us any time to see, correct, or delete what you’ve sent.

Who we are

This website, thevinekidsbook.com, is run by Abenezer Mergia, author of The Vine Kids, from Arlington, Virginia. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean him. You can reach us at thevinekidsbook@gmail.com.

What we collect

Only what you choose to send us:

This site never asks for card details. When you pay by card, you finish on SumUp’s secure checkout page, and invoices are paid through SumUp’s secure payment link. SumUp handles your card information, and we never see your card number.

What your browser shares on its own

As on every website, our host, Netlify, receives basic technical details whenever a page loads, such as your IP address, your browser type, and the page you asked for. Netlify uses them to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use them to identify you.

Cookies and tracking

We don’t set any cookies, and we don’t use analytics, advertising pixels, session recording, or any other tracking tools. Nothing on this site follows you to other websites.

The one thing the site saves in your browser is a note that you’ve unlocked Chapter One, so you aren’t asked for your email again on that device. It holds no personal details, and clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.

The short video from Abenezer is hosted on YouTube, and it doesn’t load until you tap play. We use YouTube’s privacy enhanced mode. Once the video starts, YouTube may store cookies or similar data on your device under Google’s privacy policy.

When you pay by card, SumUp’s checkout page runs on SumUp’s own site, under SumUp’s privacy policy. Links to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Amazon take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We don’t track visitors across websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. The site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends one.

How we use your information

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

A few services help us run the site and fill orders. They handle your information to provide their service to us, under their own privacy terms:

We may also share information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep requests and order records as long as we need them to serve you and to keep the records the law requires. Ask us to delete yours at any time, and we will, except for anything we’re required to keep.

Your choices

Children

This site is for parents, grandparents, teachers, and church leaders. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Visitors outside the United States

This site is run from the United States, and the information you send is handled here.

Keeping it safe

The site uses an encrypted connection, and we limit access to your information to what’s needed to handle your request. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
